1 The Effect of Excessive Social Media Use on Rising Unemployability of Recent Graduates This paper is aimed at making a case for disengagement from social media towards the building of career capital and enhancing employability ? a major grievance of the Indian labor market. We use experiments to seek any correlation between excessive social media use and rising unemployability among recent graduates. We then study the willingness to pay to use social media in exchange for digital freedom to focus instead on building skills the market actually demands. The main focus of this paper remains on the unemployability of recent graduates and how much of a role excessive social media use may have on its rise lately. We will use the Contingent Valuation Method to reach a WTP value and by using experiments we test to see if the extent of social media use and unemployability are correlated. Sen's Capability Approach is a key framework in advocating this shift. JOEL CHERIAN MANI Christ University July 2021
